Shawn O’Neil CYO Golf Tournament

Held annually during the second week of August, the Shawn O’Neil CYO golf tournament helps raise funds for the CYO Athletic Board’s cheerleading and basketball programs. O’Neil, who helped organized the tournament’s inaugural event in 1992 and played in the winning foursome, was a CYO athlete during his youth and later served for many years as a volunteer basketball coach in the Manchester deanery. The tournament was renamed in memory of O’Neil after he lost a courageous battle with cancer in 1996. The event annually attracts 130-140 golfers and is one of the major fundraising events sponsored by the Board.
